I do apologize for the lack of things churning out of here. Life has been absolutely crazy these past couple of months.
Having some down time before bed I figured I should tell you all about my latest adventures to the magical land that is DRAGON*CON!!!!!!!! That's right this was my first year taming the Dragon! lol.
For those that don't know, Dragon*Con is a HUGE convention here in Georgia that spans the area of downtown Atlanta scattered throughout 5 different host hotels. It was SOOOO different to the cons I've done previously. Dragon*Con is to GA what Comic Con is to San Diego. But people typically relate it to Sci-fi. Which isn't so true anymore as it encompasses a broad range of genres. From Sci-fi, comics, anime, movies, literature, etc... Just about anything you can think of they have it. I saw so many great costumes and met some pretty amazing people while sitting through some pretty wicked panels. And the highlight of the event was having my ass grabbed my Mr. John Barrowman! The man himself, Capt. Jack Harkness (Doctor Who/Torchwood) grabbed my ass. It was crazy! But he was super awesome and so funny.
The first panel of the weekend was Star Trek: The Next Generation. With some pretty amazing people. Garrett Wang, Q, Warf, and ah crap I can't remember her name. (or the others names at the moment) I Just know Garrett b/c I've met him before and spent some time hanging with him at a previous con. Um...we also hit the Stargate panel: SG-1 Reunion. The man himself Mr. Richard Dean Anderson was among the crew there. along with like 5 others. (never really watched the show but we went b/c my friend wanted so badly to see Rick b/c he was his idol growing up) So of coarse I went along. Even though we waited in line for it for two hours. seriously, not kidding. two hours waiting for the panel. it was crazy. but we had decent seats.
We attended a reading with a friend of mine mr Bobby Nash, who is an author, but he also works on a podcast. He was suppose to read from one of his books but we ended up talking batman the whole hour. XD It was such a great time. Then last panel we sat through was Pinky and the Brain. YUP! They were both there! It was so great seeing Rob again. And was super cool seeing the brain. (wow, i'm bad with names today)
There were a LOT of great costumes. I myself worked very hard to get a cosplay done for the event. Friday I went as a dalek, wearing a dress like outfit a friend of mine had made and sold me. saturday and sunday: I went as Raven from teen titans (which is the one i worked on myself) took a good bit of time to put together but it was so fun. monday i just wore normal clothes. b/c the outfit for raven and the dalek it was just hard to breath in and the last cosplay i had planned to do, Lt. Rukia Kuchiki, was just as constricting as the others so i did not want to deal with it again.
Saturday morning the Dragon*Con parade marched through downtown and boy was it crowded as heck! but it was super awesome. They had some great guests this year. Jason David Frank from power rangers, George Takei, Rob Paulsen, William Shatner, Lucy Lawless, John Barrowman and the crew from Torchwood. and MANY MANY more it was insane! They had a single hall dedicated for signings from all the guests and it was crazy walking around and seeing all these famous people that inspired you as a kid just sitting at a table. Oh it was awesome! I can't wait for next year!
With Dragon*Con behind me I'm looking forward to AWA in a couple of weeks. Then it's back to work. I'll start managers training at work and will be even more busy but hey it's better pay and better hours. Which i seriously need. Well I think I've geeked out enough for this post. Take care!
